Dedicated to serving Southend-on-Sea
In 2006 the centre was taken over from Southend-on-Sea Borough Council by St Edmund's Community Association, a registered charity, on a thirty year lease from the council. The Chairman of the Association is Melvyn L. Day who was a St Luke's Ward Councillor at the time. He continues to run the Association with the help of a number of local volunteers - notably Mrs Val Walton and her husband Don, both of whom have been responsible for the efficient running of the hall for over 25 years and not least members of the Hindu Association.
St Edmund's Community Association not only runs the Community Centre but also provides local groups in the Ward of St Luke's with support funding for a variety of purposes such as sporting and recreational activities for children, additional educational needs, and help for vulnerable adults.
